7 Impressive Things Instagram Did To Become Hit

By | April 14, 2012

Facebook’s purchase of Instagram was big news for me, in fact for all of us. The bigger was the price which Facebook shelled out to buy Instagram. It is a small company run by 13 employees and Facebook paid 1 Billion USD for that. However the amount covers the company as well as the employees.

I just read somewhere that Mark Zuckerberg has decided to keep Instagram as a separately working firm and not to merge it in Facebook. Good deed indeed. Instagram was owned by Kevin and as per my knowledge he was offered a job in Facebook during its inception but he refused. He was though in touch with Mark Zuckerberg.  Kevin then created a photography site Instagram which he sold now to Mark for 1 Billion USD.

Instagram is an image capturing, modifying and sharing services specially designed for the mobile phones. This service was started and established about two years ago in 2010 but had made a good repot among users. Facebook has its own prominent image sharing service on web and thus I am confused why Facebook wanted to buy Instagram. I guess Mark Zuckerberg wants to impede the growing competition on mobile devices.

Mark anyways would be very excited to take over a firm having an abundance of customers. I guess you guys know that Instagram despite of being a two years old company it has about 50 million users presently. Furthermore it has now become more famous after its billion dollar sale to Facebook.

Instagram zoomed with 50 million users in just a span of two years and stats say that its estimation outshines New York Times which is 116 years old, isn’t that commendable. Instagram actually deserves that it has awesome features and was really worth getting a billion dollar. I will discuss its best features here. Keep on reading to know more about them :

Things Instagram Did To Become Hit

Instagram focused on growing

The Company though had a dramatic growth but still they never exceeded their overheads by recruiting more employees they rather focused on growing their platform. They don’t even have a big headquarters and are housed in South Park Street in Twitter’s old building. The company took a wise decision to switch from being a social network site to a leading iPhone app. More importantly they were centered about their offerings and features.

Instagram cashed the time

The Company made a smart move right when the Smarphone market went drastically up. Instagram didn’t release their android app till the mobile market reached a high level. They waited for the right time to launch the app for the android based mobile phone and cracked the deal at the right time.

Clean interface

I love working on instagram as the app has a very clean and easy to access interface. There are no useless icons and control buttons. All it has is clean image. The fresh glass screen with the floating images makes it look simple and elegant to use. Unlike the other photo editing apps, Instagram is absolutely clutter-less.

Instagram is interesting

I can work on Instagram for hours without getting bored. What I like the most about it is that it never forces me to share or like any image. It is an open space and I can do what I want. I also love the chat corner of Instagram where I can come and go as per my choice. I must mention here that Instagram doesn’t ask me of any commitment as I need to do on Facebook.

Instagram rocks

It is one of the best way of photo sharing I have ever came across. I can get connected to the images around instantly without having any stress of adding anyone to my social circle. I do not need to add anyone to watch his/her shared images and can converse about it if I want to. I am not that good at clicking but if you are a good photographer you can capture an emotion in Instagram and can share it instantaneously and easily.

The details about the picture

This is again one of my favorite feature in Instagram. As I click a picture the app pops up with a rich set of data where I can add the location, time and date and any other data I want to add in my image.

Instagram earned community not money

The owner of Instagram never thought about making money. All he was focused in was to grow the community and he was quite successful in it having more than 50 million users in just a span of 15 months.

I am using Instagram for last 6 months and I enjoy sharing my pictures with my friends when I am out in a cool spot of my city or anywhere outstation.

More than the app, the people behind it, their ideas and work inspired me a lot. There were hell of a lot photo sharing and tweaking apps already both on App store and Android market, but it still stood out.
